PURPOSE: To provide a process by which the surface of a polyimide film can be stably hydrophilized and improved in adhesiveness. ;CONSTITUTION: A polyimide film 34 which is being run at a constant speed is sprayed with an organic solvent through a spray nozzle 14. The wet film surface is mechanically treated by, for example, brushing with a rotating brush 12. The film 34 is then sprayed with an organic solvent through a rinse nozzle 16 to remove a weakly adherent polyimide surface layer and a fouling substance layer from the film surface. Thereafter, the film 34 is introduced into a drying oven 20 to remove the organic solvent adherent to the film surface, and then introduced into a plasma treatment device 22 to treat the surface with a plasma.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1996,JPO
