PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To permit miniaturization and weight reduction of a portable personal computer and a portable information terminal by miniaturizing a keyboard. SOLUTION: This device is composed of an input key 10 and a scale 20 on which characters are printed. In addition, the scale 20 is composed of plural sectioned columns and 'HIRAGANA (cursive form of Japanese syllabary)' are printed in the vertical direction (positive direction of Y axis), 'KATAKANA (Japanese syllabary)' are printed in the vertical direction (negative direction of Y axis), 'capital alphabetical characters or signs' are printed in the horizontal direction (negative direction of X axis) and 'small alphabetical characters or signs' are printed in the horizontal direction (positive direction of X axis) of each column. The height direction is defined as a Z axis (positive in the upper direction) here. For example, 'the first HIRAGANA in Japanese syllabary order' 'the first KATAKANA in Japanese syllabary order', 'A' and 'a' are printed on the leftmost side and 'the last HIRAGANA in above order', 'the last KATAKANA in above order', '$' and '%' are printed on the rightmost side.
