New physiologically active substances Mer-W8020A and Mer-W8020B and methods for producing them

PURPOSE:To provide physiologically active substances Mer-W 8020A and Mer-W 8020B expected as therapeutic medicines for autoimmune diseases, and to provide the method for producing the substances. CONSTITUTION:The physiologically active substances can be produced by culturing a microorganism which belongs to the genus Streptomyces, e.g. Streptomyces griseoviridis Mer-W 8020 strain (FERM P-13374), in a nutritive medium, separating the cells from the cultured solution, extracting the substances from the separated cells with a solvent, and subsequently isolating and purifying the substances by adsorption with resin, high performance chromatography, gel filtration, etc.
