PURPOSE: To provide a biological active reagent colloidally stable under various operating conditions by reacting a biological active material on polymer particles having a side chain aldehyde group by covalent binding to prepare the biological active reagent. ;CONSTITUTION: The water-insoluble particles have a nonswelling property in water and a side chain aldehyde group on the outer surface and are made of a polymer induced from an ethylene unsaturated polymerizable monomer expressed by the formula, where Are indicates arylene, R, R¹ independently indicate hydrogen, a halogen, or a lower alkyl, R² R³ independently indicate an alkylene having the carbon number of 1-4 in the principal chain, R⁴ indicates an arylene, (m) is 0 or 1, and (n) is an integer of 1-4.
