PURPOSE: To obtain a roll for continuous casting excellent in strength and toughness thickened in build-up layer, and capable of repeating use. ;CONSTITUTION: A solid base material 5 is vertically inserted into a combined mold integrally arranged with the mold including a cooling mold 4 at the lower part of a refractory heating mold 2 surrounded by an electromagnetic induction heating coil 1 at the outer part. Molten metal 6 having the desired material prepared separately is poured into a space part 7 between the base material 5 and the combined mold. The base material 5 is intermittently descended and the molten metal 6 is solidified by cooling while sticking the molten metal to the outer surface of the base material, and the duplex material forming the build-up layer 8 on the outer periphery of the base material 5 is hot-forged.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1995,JPO
