PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance sensitivity in gas detection and also to increase response speed.;SOLUTION: An indium electrode thin film 2 is formed on, and stuck fast to, one surface of an organic semiconductor thin film 1 made of copper phthalocyanine, and a gold electrode thin film 3 is formed on the other surface. A voltage is impressed on the thin film 1 so that the indium electrode 2 side is positively biased. When the indium electrode 2 side is positively biased and irradiated with light of wavelengths absorbable by the thin film 1, a photoelectric current multiplication phenomenon takes place at an interface between the thin film 1 and the electrode 2. In this state, when this gas sensor is put in an oxygen or water content atmosphere, a photoelectric current by multiplication is changed and thus oxygen or water content can be detected.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2002,JPO
