PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heat resistant ferritic stainless steel compatible high temperature characteristics with cold workability and excellent in cold workability, and to provide an internal combustion type automobile combustion gas exhaust manifold consisting of the steel.;SOLUTION: This stainless steel has a composition containing, by mass, ≤0.015% C, ≤0.01% N, 0.1 to 0.6% Si, 0.01 to 0.6% Mn, ≤0.03% P, ≤0.0025% S, 0.01 to 0.5% Ni, 16 to 21% Cr, 0.75 to 2% Mo, 0.3 to 0.85% Nb, 0.03 to 0.15% Ti, 0.01 to 0.5% Al, 0.4 to 1% Cu and 0.0003 to 0.2% rare earth metals, and the balance Fe with impurities, and in which the content of C+N is ≤0.02%.
