METHOD FOR PROMOTING ROOTING OF ANGIOSPERM BY CUTTAGE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel and practical method for breeding angiosperms hard to be bred by cuttage by increasing a rooting rate of cuttage and thereby improving a rate of taking root, vegetative growth and reproductive growth after transplantation. SOLUTION: The objective method for promoting rooting of cuttings is characterized by comprising the following steps: obtaining a branch cut off from angiosperms as a cutting, soaking the cut-off base portion of the cutting in a chitosan solution or dust coating chitosan-containing powder diluted with talc followed by planting the cutting in a nursery bed, or pre-treating the cut-off base portion of the cutting using a chitosan followed by treating again the thus pre-treated cut-off base portion of the cutting again using auxins, or alternatively, followed by treating the thus pre-treated cut-off base portion of the cutting using a solution or dust each containing chitosan and auxins, and thereafter planting the resultant cutting in a nursery bed.
