PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a device avoiding a risk of an erroneous detection while having high precision.;SOLUTION: This method comprises detecting an object on a carrier passage, favorably a presence of a sheet-shaped or a discrete sheet-shaped object for preparation of processing and/or controlling the object for printing the object in, favorably a printing machine, in especially a digital printing machine. This type carries the object on the carrier passage along a sensor device, favorably an optical barrier, for detecting the edge of the object positioned in the front viewed from the carrying direction, and after detecting the front edge of the object, checks, at least, once whether the object is still present in the measurement range of the sensor device.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2002,JPO
