PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To manufacture a practical electrode catalyst joint body selectively fitting a platinum - ruthenium catalyst having superior oxidation activity of carbon monoxide and alcohols to the vicinity of the surface of a polymer electrolytic membrane and to provide a high-performance solid polymer fuel cell using it. SOLUTION: This electrode catalyst joint body is provided with a platinum - ruthenium catalyst layer on the surface of the polymer electrolytic membrane and the solid polymer fuel cell using it as the negative electrode is provided.
