PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for on-curved surface mesh data generation which decreases the number of elements of meshes while suppressing the decrease in the degree of shape approximation.;SOLUTION: This method includes a shape data readout stage for reading curved surface shape data out, a circumferential line extraction stage for extracting the line of intersection of the curved-surface shape data and a specific plane as a circumferential line, a plane mesh generation stage for generating plane meshes, a plane mesh deformation stage for moving nodes nearby the circumferential line onto the circumferential line together with a mesh line, a node projection stage for projecting the nodes on the curved-surface shape data and connecting the projected nodes along the mesh line to generate curved- surface meshes on the curved surface of the curved-surface shape data, and a mesh redefining stage for connecting specific multiple curved-surface meshes which are close to each other among the curved-surface shapes to define one new curved-surface mesh.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2002,JPO
