METHOD FOR CULTURING AND FOR PRESERVING PHOTOTROPHIC BACTERIUM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide methods which are simple in quality control for culturing and for preserving a phototrophic bacterium with a purpose of popularizing a waste treatment using the phototrophic bacterium.;SOLUTION: The method for culturing a phototrophic bacterium is carried out by using a fermented liquor of rice-polished water which has been obtained by subjecting rice-polished water to primary fermentation with a fermenting micro-organism as a culture medium. The method for preserving a phototrophic bacterium comprises the addition of colloidal particles of montmorillonite clay mineral having excellent absorbability to a culture solution of a phototrophic bacterium obtained by culturing the bacterium in the culture medium. These methods enable the growth of microorganisms useful for cleaning environmental pollution by effectively using rice-polished water, which is a byproduct of rice polishing, and they are simple in quality control and contribute largely for environmental protection.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2002,JPO
