PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide authentication auxiliary equipment on which an ID medium with individual authentication information registered therein can be mounted and which is provided with an interface means with an external device, or an individual authentication system composed of an individual authenticating device and an ID medium issuing/individual authentication network system.;SOLUTION: In a portable terminal 10, a disk type authentication card 1 provided with a storage area storing authentication data as an ID medium can be mounted from a mounting part 15. When a user presses down a power button 13, the authentication data is transmitted to the external device through an infrared transmitting and receiving part 16. The external device compares the received authentication data with authentication data registered in the external device, makes the external device itself operable as user authentication success when the authentication data coincide with each other, and does not operate as user authentication failure when the authentication data do not coincide.
