PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power factor correction apparatus and a power factor correction method, which can detect automatically an inputted voltage, switch automatically the inductance of a power factor correction circuit according to the detected voltage value, and make the high-frequency voltage of an applicable product conform to the EN6100-3-2 Specifications or any other rocal environmental protection regulation.;SOLUTION: This power factor correction apparatus comprises an inductor composed of at least two inductance elements; arranged symmetrically and connected to each other and an all-wave rectifier connected to the output end of the inductor, and a switching device which has its input end connected to a power supply input source, has its output end connected to the inductor, and selects a parallel connection or a series connection among the connection states of the two inductance elements, further, a power supply voltage detection device is included between the switching device and the power supply input source.
