PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent long-period waiting of a customer even if stockout of a commodity occurs when the customer purchases the commodity in a department store (A), and to dissolve complication of a salesclerk (B).;SOLUTION: In this system, commodity stockout information of the commodity received from an inventory control server 5 of an inventory control center (C) by use of the Internet 5 is recorded in a commodity master table 16 of a commodity order entry management server 21 in the department store (A). When the salesclerk (B) starts order entry input of the commodity by a commodity order entry terminal 3₁ according to customer's requirement, the commodity order entry management server 2 decides whether the ordered commodity is stockout or not, extracts a substitute commodity in the same kind and the same price zone as the commodity when the commodity is stockout, and displays the substitute commodity on a monitor 25. Thereby, the customer can grasp whether the commodity is stockout or not when purchasing the commodity, and can select the purchase of the substitute commodity in the case of the stockout of the commodity.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2002,JPO
