To properly solve the Chinese character processing problems is a prerequisite for the development of MIS in China and Japan. By now, the encoding and inputting of the Chinese characters are the key problems. In order to accelerate the speed of the Chinese character inputting, a proposal for grouping the characters by their shape and ranking them by their frequency of usage is suggested in this article. This method eliminates the need for the user to memorize the codes and reduces the average number of key-touches for entering every character to less than two.
