PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magneto-optical disk for short wavelengths having a magneto-optical recording film for short wavelengths formed of an amorphous alloy of a light rare earth metal-transition metal-semimetal which may have perpendicular magnetic anisotropy without a decrease in the magnetic moment of light rare earth metal in a short wavelength region. ;SOLUTION: This magneto-optical disk is constituted by successively forming an antireflection film 2 formed of a dielectric material, the magneto-optical recording film 3 consisting of the amorphous alloy of the light rare earth metal- transition metal-semimetal, a protective film 4 for protecting this magneto- optical recording film 3 and an antireflection film 5 formed on this protective film 4 on a substrate 1. The light rare earth metal is at least any among Ce, Pt, Nd, Pm, Sm, Eu and Gd, the transition metal is at least any among Fe, Ni and Co and the semimetal is at least any among B, Si and P.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1997,JPO
