PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a titanium-containing silicon oxide catalyst which can be used in, e.g. a reaction for obtaining an oxirane compound from a hydroperoxide and an olefinic compound and can exhibit high activity and to provide a catalyst produced thereby.;SOLUTION: A method for producing a titanium-containing silicon oxide catalyst having a specified pore diameter distribution, etc., is provided. This method comprises the steps of: obtaining a solid containing a catalyst component and a template by mixing under agitation in a liquid state a liquid a silica source, a titanium source, and a quaternary ammonium ion as a template under conditions in which the content of the alkali metal in the prepared mixture is in the range satisfying formula (II): alkali metal/titanium ≤ 3 (mol/mol) or formula (III) alkali metal/[NR1R2R3R4]+ ≤ 0.3 (mol/mol) and removing the template from the obtained solid.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2002,JPO
