PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a spring material made of an aluminum alloy in which initial settling is hard to occur, and further, secular deterioration of spring force is hard to occur even in the case where the using temperature rises.;SOLUTION: This spring material made of an aluminum alloy has a composition containing, by weight, 3.0 to 6.0% Cu and 0.5 to 2.0% Mg, further containing at least one kind selected from the groups consisting of 1.0% Fe, 1.0% Si, 1.0% Mn, 0.15% Cr, 0.2% Zr, 0.2% V, 0.2% Ti and 0.05% B, and the balance Al with inevitable impurities. In this spring material, proof stress is increased by precipitation hardening, by which initial settling is made hard to occur, so that the increase of secular deterioration of the spring force by residual stress is not caused, and since Cu or the like are entered into solid solution in an oversaturated state, and the nuclei generating frequency of precipitates is high, even in the case where the using temperature rises, the solid solution elements are densely precipitated to suppress secular deterioration of the spring force.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2002,JPO
