PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for welding by which a butt welding of thin steel plates is stably performed without generating a defect by optimizing the resultant output ratio of a pulse YAG laser beam and a continuous wave YAG laser beam, the oscillation condition of the pulse YAG laser beam, and the distance between the irradiated positions with respective lasers. SOLUTION: In the method by which the thin steel plates are welded by mixing the pulse YAG laser beam and the continuous wave YAG laser beam, the average output PP of the pulse YAG laser beam is set at 20% to 50% of the total output PTOT, the distance between respective irradiation positions is set at 1.0 mm or smaller, the repeating frequency of the pulse of the pulse YAG laser beam is set by corresponding to the welding speed, and the distance between the irradiation points of the pulse is set at 0.5 mm or smaller.
