PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To develop a new technique to impart heat resistance to a plant by transducing a gene defending the oxidation stress, to screen a new gene usable therefor, and to determine the base sequence of the gene. SOLUTION: The gene is a peroxisome-bound ascorbic acid peroxidase gene derived from a barley and induced by heat stress. The plant is a transformed plant which is obtained by transducing the gene and imparted with the heat resistance.
