PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a carbon monoxide removing method which can reduce carbon monoxide in reformed gas by effectively carrying out a selective oxidation reaction, and to provide a carbon monoxide removing device using the above method. SOLUTION: The carbon monoxide removing method is a method of reducing carbon monoxide contained in reformed gas by guiding the hydrogen rich reformed gas generated by a vapor reforming reaction of original fuel and water content to a carbon dioxide removing device 1 in which, a catalyst layer 2, promoting a selective oxidation reaction by carbon monoxide and oxygen, is installed. The selective oxidation reaction is carried out by introducing air to the carbon monoxide removing device 1 after introducing a prescribed volume of reformed gas in advance, while making the gas pass through the carbon monoxide removing device flow into another flow path, by preventing the gas from flowing into a supply path 8a of the fuel cell 9, afterwards, the reformed gas passed through the carbon monoxide removing device is supplied to the fuel cell 9 by opening the supply path of the fuel cell 9.
