PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lithium ion battery for low earth-orbit artificial satellite, capable of extending its service life by measuring a no-load voltage of a lithium ion battery after discharging, monitoring a remaining capacity, and setting and changing a charging stop voltage using the difference between the remaining capacity and the lowest remaining capacity, thus operating the lithium ion battery with the minimum SOC. SOLUTION: An increase in the output current of a voltage control circuit 2, when sunshining is started is detected by a current-monitoring pulse generating circuit 9, and a voltage read pulse signal is generated to be sent to a charging control circuit 5 and a battery voltage monitor circuit 8. The charging control circuit 5 receiving the voltage read pulse signal stops charging, and at the same time, the battery voltage monitor circuit 8 measures its terminal voltage to obtain the no-load voltage of the lithium ion battery 6; the average value of the no-load voltage in one regression day is calculated; a charging stop voltage setting signal corresponding to the difference between the lowest remaining capacity signal and is generated; and the charging stop voltage setting signal is inputted into the charging control circuit 5 to adjust and change the charging stop voltage, thereby operating the lithium ion battery 6 with the low SOC.
