PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bill housing device for bill discrimination device capable of housing bills differed in length in a mixed state. SOLUTION: This device has a structure in which a bill guide groove in the vicinity of the downstream tip of a guide 8 is lapped on a rib 12 provided on a pusher 10 in the lower stream of a carrying passage, so that both side edges near the tip of a bill sent into the carrying passage are loosely held by the friction force generated by the contact of the bill with an edge 8a near the downstream tip of the guide 8 and the rib 12. Accordingly, since the bill is stopped in a position just after the bill rear end leaves a carrying roller and a presser roller to loose the carrying force, the rear end of bills differed in length can be stopped substantially in the same position. Since the bills are pushed into a housing box in this state by the pusher 10, the bills are neatly housed in the housing box in the state where the rear ends are neatly arranged, so that a bill receiving lever for preventing the intrusion to the carrying passage can surely hold the bill rear ends.
