PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce running cost of a lift-up feeding polishing machine by objectively determining appropriate time for replacement of an abrasive cloth.;SOLUTION: The present invention enables objective determination of time for replacement of the abrasive cloth from moving speed of a pachinko ball in a lift-up feeding tower. A pair of sensors 21 and 23 for detecting a moving pachinko ball 35 is provided at upper and lower parts of the lift-up feeding tower 5, and a time for movement for this (t1) is calculated. By comparing this time for movement (t1) with a set time (t0) stored in a memory circuit (ROM), whether it is time for replacing a abrasive cloth 33 or not is displayed on a display means 41. As pressing force onto the pachinko ball is large for a new abrasive cloth, the moving time of pachinko balls is short, while the moving time is longer for used abrasive cloths. By looking at this display, anyone can easily and objectively determine time for replacement, and polishing cloths can be efficiently updated.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2002,JPO
