PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To positively prevent infiltration of rainwater from the periphery of a newly formed opening without executing sealing, and to ensure high design value in appearance of the periphery of the opening, when external finish materials each formed of a long plate such as a lightweight concrete plate are newly stuck to an external wall surface of an existing building having the opening, at the time of reforming.;SOLUTION: According to an opening periphery forming method, furring strips 3 and 4 are mounted on four sides of the opening 60 of the existing building. Then, a decorative member 10 which is formed of an aluminum extruded product and has grooves 22 into which end face portions of the new external finish materials B can be inserted, is fixed to the furring strips such that the grooves 22 are arranged on the outside. Further, the new external finish materials B for reforming are stuck to the building wall surface by inserting the end face portions thereof into the grooves 22, respectively.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2002,JPO
