PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method of a solid gear cutting tool formed of high-speed tool steel demonstrating the excellent chipping resistance in high- speed gear cutting.;SOLUTION: In the manufacturing method of the solid gear cutting tool formed of high-speed tool steel in which a tool stock formed of high-speed tool steel and roughly worked to a shape corresponding to the shape of the final solid gear cutting tool is quenched to realize the martensitic structure, the quenched tool stock is tempered to realize the martensitic structure of the residual austenite distributed in the stock of the martensitic structure formed in the quenching, and the tempered tool stock is finished to the final shape in a final stage, the quenched tool stock is subjected to the sub-zero treatment of cooling and keeping at the temperature of ≤-150°C to realize the martensitic structure of the residual austenite distributed in the martensitic stock. Thus, the residual austenite forming a starting point of chipping during the high-speed gear cutting is not present in the martensitic structure in the structure of the tempered tool stock.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
