PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a peripheral equipment(PE) control system, capable of controlling the target PE, even if PE control software has no information about the user management mode of the target PE. SOLUTION: The attribute information 301 of the PE 1 is acquired (S1701). The attribute information can be acquired, by transmitting an attribute acquiring command from a personal computer(PC) (1) 2 or the like to the PE 1 and processing the command by the PE 1. The obtained attribute information is displayed on a CRT 33 (S1702). A 'current user management mode' attribute 302 is acquired (S1703) and is displayed on the CRT 33. The input of the user is awaited (S1705), and the 'current user management mode' attribute 302 is set in accordance with an input from a user (S1706). The attribute information can be set, by transmitting the attribute setting command from the PC (1) 2 or the like to the PE 1 and processing the command by the PE 1.
