PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new aquaporin that can be used for elucidating the mechanism of regulating water or a low-molecular-weight substance in the enteric canal, and for developing the method for elucidating the mechanism of, diagnosing, preventing, and treating the crisis of various diseases causing diarrhea such as inflammatory bowel disease, and a reagent and medicine for them. SOLUTION: The subject substance is a protein having a specific amino acid sequence consisting of 264 amino acids. A derivative and fragment thereof, and base sequences encoding these are also provided.
