PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composite welding head of laser and arc and a welding method, by which head and method adhering of metallic vapor to an arc electrode is effectively prevented and a composite welding is performed under an optimum arrangement condition of the arc electrode with respect to the position which is irradiated with the laser beam. SOLUTION: An adjustment mechanism of the arc electrode, provided with a pair of flange fixing faces 15, a first flange 16, an O-ring 20, a second flange 18, and an O-ring 22, is provided in the arc electrode 10 (a supporting member 31 of the arc electrode) in order to serve as an adjustment mechanism of the arc electrode having an adjustment function of an arc electrode position, an adjustment function of an arc electrode inclination angle, an adjustment function of an arc electrode distance. Or an adjustment mechanism of the arc electrode, provided with a supporting member 71 which supports a supporting member 81 of the arc electrode in the manner that the supporting member is freely swiveled, a first vertical slide guide 65, a second vertical slide guide 66, lateral feed screw 68, a feed screw 69 for swinging, and a longitudinal feed screw 92, is furnished in an arc electrode 60 (a supporting member 81 of the arc electrode).
