PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an equipment diagnostic system using lubricating oil, which has good convenience for a customer and high reliability.;SOLUTION: The equipment diagnostic system receives an image from the customer, which includes wearing particles obtained from the lubricating oil of the equipment (S1), converts a shape, size and quantity into digital data and reads them (S2). The presence or absence of damage of the equipment is judged based on the read shape and size (S3), the cause of the damage is analyzed (S4). Furthermore, colors of the wearing particles before and after a heat treatment are converted into digital data and read in (S5), and the material of the wearing particle is analyzed based on the change of the color, and the material of the damaged region is analyzed (S6). The degree of damage is also analyzed base on the quantity (S7). In addition, the damaged region is analyzed based of the material of the wearing particle (S11). These analyses are carried out by comparing to the standard or the like stored in a database. Then, results such as the possible damaged region, the degree of damage or the like of the equipment derived from these analyzed results are transmitted to the customer (S8).;COPYRIGHT: (C)2002,JPO
