METHOD AND DEVICE FOR MEASURING FLEXURAL RIGIDITY OF FLEXIBLE LONG MEMBER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new method for measuring flexural rigidity of flexible long member, which can measure the flexural rigidity even of an flexible long member such as a catheter tube very easily without destroying it, and to provide a measurement device suitably used for the measuring method.;SOLUTION: At least one loop 2a is formed in the longitudinal course of the tube 2. Then, in such a condition that both ends of the tube 2 are pulled by a prescribed load P, the radius of curvature ρ is measured at a prescribed position in the loop 2a, and the flexural rigidity EI is measured in accordance with a relational expression among the radius of curvature ρ, the prescribed load P and the flexural rigidity EI.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2002,JPO
