PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reliably reduce deflection of a chain in the timing chain structure of a V-type engine.;SOLUTION: In the V-type engine 21, the first timing chain 7 is wound between crank sprocket 6 provided on a crank shaft C and the cam sprockets 4 and 5 in the first bank 2, and the second timing chains 11 is wound between crank sprocket 10 provided on a crank shaft C and the cam sprockets 8 and 9 in the second bank 3. A chain tensioner 25 and a chain guide 26 are provided in the first bank 2. A chain tensioner 27 and a chain guide 28 are provided in the second bank 3. The lower end of the chain guide 26 in the first bank 2 and the chain tensioner 27 in the second bank 3 is fastened together with a bolt 32, whereby the chain guide 26 and the chain tensioner 27 can be extended to the vicinity of the crank sprockets 6 and 10. As a consequence, deflection of the chain is reliably controlled, which allows reducing occurrence of noise and vibration, and wear of a chain and a sprocket.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2002,JPO
