PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem of the conventional ATM cell transmission system that it cannot have effectively utilized a statistical multiplex effect of an ATM network.;SOLUTION: The ATM cell transmission system is provided with an ATM cell assembling device 40A that decides whether a data stream is a significant data stream, on the basis of a protocol of a data terminal 10A upon the receipt of the data stream from the data terminal 10A, adds a header to the significant data stream with a prescribed bit amount after receiving only the significant data stream by a prescribed bit amount, assembles ATM cells and transmits the ATM cell to an ATM network 30 and with an ATM cell disassembling device 60A that stores ATM cells to a fluctuation absorbing buffer 61A upon the receipt of the ATM cell from the ATM network 30, disassembles the ATM cell, transmits the data stream to a data terminal at a constant transmission rate, and transmits a synchronous pattern to the data terminal on the basis of the protocol of the data terminal, when the fluctuation absorption buffer storing the ATM cells becomes vacant.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2001,JPO
