BOW DOME SONAR AND DETECTING METHOD FOR UNDERWATER OBJECT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bow dome sonar assembly capable of being made by far smaller and lighter than the conventional sonar assembly and having the same high performance as that of the conventional design.;SOLUTION: This small modular sonar assembly used at the bow of a ship has individual transmitting and receiving arrays enclosed in a single acoustic housing. The fine and small design of the sonar assembly is compatible with a hydrodynamically desirable bulbous bow design by far better than the typical bow dome sonar design, its size and weight are reduced at a low cost, and it achieves good performance.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2001,JPO
