PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an effective sorting method and a retrieval method that objectively process a three dimensional object shape and perform computation in a practicable range.;SOLUTION: In this arrangement, there are provided: a step for obtaining point group data wherein the coordinates comprise a plurality of known points at the points on an object surface; a step for extracting parameters representing the shape of the object by executing a given processing on the point; a step for storing the parameters and applying indexes to the sorted parameter group; and a step for mutually relating the indexes and point group data or the parameter group to record to a storage device.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2002,JPO
