PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a stainless steel material coated with high-photocatalyst activity titanium dioxide film which is capable of preventing discoloration and interference colors at need and a method for manufacturing the same.;SOLUTION: This stainless steel material coated with the titanium dioxide film is coated with the surface oxidized film between a stainless steel base body and a titanium dioxide particulate layer and this film contains the oxide of Cr, Si, Al and Fe and has an atomic concentration ratio (Cr+Si+Al)/Fe of ≥0.4 and a thickness of 1 to 100 mm. The stainless steel material described above is obtained by forming the oxidized film described above on the stainless steel base material by subjecting the material to bright annealing in a reducing atmosphere satisfying formulas 750≤T1≤5×T2+1250, -70≤T2≤-30 [where T1 denotes an annealing temperature (°C) and T2 denotes the dew point (°C) of the atmosphere] and forming the titanium dioxide layer thereon.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2002,JPO
