PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a titanium dioxide-coated stainless steel material where coloring and interference colors are not generated and which is excellent in stain-proofing property.;SOLUTION: The titanium dioxide layer formed on a stainless steel material base body has a total average film thickness of 0.01 to 2 μm and is composed of thick film parts having an average film thickness of 1.2 to 2.0 times of the total average film thickness, thin film parts having an average film thickness of 0.1 to 0.9 times of the total average film thickness and intermediate film thickness parts having an average film thickness being intermediate of the average film thicknesses of the thick film parts and thin film parts. Further, when any one of the thick film parts, the thin film parts and the intermediate film thickness parts forms a continuous film part, other parts form a plurality of independent film parts which are present in the dispersed and separated state in the continuous film part, and an average value of the intervals between thick film parts and thin film parts, each adjacent to each other through each intermediate film thickness part, is 1 to 5 μm.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2002,JPO
