PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To first provide a method of calculating economically the demand for energy of a heat source system of a building.;SOLUTION: This method is provided for calculating the demand for energy of the heat source system of a building that changes variously during a set period. In a first process, the daily total amount of demand for energy of the system and the approximation thereof are calculated. In a second process, the approximation of the amount of demand for energy for each set energy category is calculated by dividing the daily total amount of demand for energy for each set energy category, and a numeric series comprised of the approximation of the amount of demand for energy for each set energy category and of the approximation of the daily total amount of demand for energy is prepared. The numeric series thus obtained is stipulated as a pattern of the daily demand for energy and the days having the same pattern are collected into a plurality of pattern groups. In a third process, the day representative of the outdoor air conditions of each pattern group is determined as a representative day and the pattern of the representative day is made the pattern of the pattern group.
