The invention relates to the use of water-insoluble poly(oxy-1,4-butanediyl)-containing polyoxyalkylene-polysiloxane block copolymers of the general average formula ;wherein the variables and indices are described herein as defoaming agents for aqueous media. This invention also provides for defoaming compositions comprising said Water-insoluble poly(oxy-1,4-butanediyl)-containing polyoxyalkylene-polysiloxane block copolymers.
