"System and the process of tracking vehicle hired for use in connection with a system of notification in advance, and,System to notify users in advance of the imminent arrival of a mobile vehicle hired at a predetermined location.A tracking system of the vehicle (10) includes a sensor (18) (for example, a GPS sensor) and a vehicle control unit VCU (15) stuck to a vehicle (17).The sensor (18) determines the location of the vehicle based on positioning signals received from a plurality of satellites.The VCU (15) compares the location of the vehicle with a default program (30a).The program default (30a) includes a plurality of entries, where each entry corresponds to a location along the route of the path of the vehicle.In addition, each entry includes a location value which indicates the location that corresponds to the input and a time value that indicates when the vehicle (17) should be in the location.The VCU (15) determines whether the vehicle (17) is in the program or out of the program.By comparing the current location of the vehicle (17) as determined by the sensor (18) and the amount of time that has elapsed since the beginning of the journey with the entries in the default program.If the vehicle (17) is out of the program, then, the VCU (15) transmits a status message to a remote location that indicates how the vehicle is out of the program.A computer (31b) at the remote location is informed of the program preset and admits that the vehicle (17) is in the program, unless a status message is received from the VCU (15).If a status message is received, the computer (31b) at the remote location determines the current location of the vehicle (17) based on the status message.
