"PROCESS OF PROTECTION OF POWER SEMICONDUCTORS OF A POWER CONVERTER AND CONVERTER IMPLEMENTING SUCH PROCESS". The present invention relates to a method of protecting a power switch present in a power converter associated with a peak voltage limiting device whereby the maximum permissible voltage at the power switch terminals is maintained by inhibiting the peak voltage limitation function when the power switch is off. Also described is a converter implementing the said process.
