A safety bolt is provided for firearms, such as pistols and revolvers, having a hammer dog (11) with a stop spring (13) associated with a spring retaining rod (14) with a free end (16) of non-circular cross section. The safety bolt includes a safety pin (19), which is aligned with the free end of the spring retainer (14) and is capable of axial rotational translation movements that can be controlled by a defined contour key (20) to a longitudinal lock of the spring retaining rod (14), in order to prevent the frame and the action of the hammer dog when it is released and inhibit the operation of the weapon in the absence of the key.
