The process for treating mine water using polyaluminium chloride according to the present invention is characterized in that a necessary amount of polyaluminium chloride is proportioned in water under perpetual agitation and if pH value of water is above 11, the pH of the mixture is adjusted by means of dry hydrate or calcium hydroxide. Separation of the precipitate thus formed is carried out by settling and filtration. In order to achieve the resulting pH in the range of 6 to 9, so preliminary purified water is then subjected, prior discharge in surface water, to neutralization by carbon dioxide. Subsequently another separation of a solid phase is executed by settling or filtration. A further adjustment using ion-exchange resins may optionally follow, too.
