A security device for a brash chopper 1 is disclosed. Further, such a brash chopper is disclosed. A reversing device 20 is provided which via a security bow 14 is connected to an indexing means 27. The indexing means 27 comprises a spring-loaded, force-affected pawl 40 which may be brought into engagement with any desired of three cut-outs 36, 38, 39 in order to define the position of the reversing device for stopping feeding rollers 4 or rotating same in one or the other direction. The handle 21 is swingably journalled around an axis 28 at the top, such that gravity forces a plate 34 in the handle 21 against the centre cut-out 36. Hereby, a change in the conditions of operation may only be brought about by activating the handle, the plate 34 in engagement with the cut-out 36 keeping the pawl 40 in engagement with one of the two outer cut-outs 38, 39.
