PROCESS AND DEVICE FOR OXIDATIVE TREATING OF COMPOSITIONS CONTAINING ORGANIC COMPOUNDS, NOBLE METAL AND/OR RARE EARTH METALS

Precious and/or rare-earth- metals and organic matter are recovered from waste compsns. by an oxidation process. Initially, volatile organic cpds. are removed pref. by steam distn. The composition is then heated gradually, in an enclosure, to its ignition temp. Depending on the constituent cpds. of the compsn., a suitably controlled laminar stram of water vapour and/or of inert gas, pref. nitrogen or air, is passed over the compsn.'s surface, while a lowered pressure is maintained at 1-500 torr-s. The treatment unit is equipped with a gas inlet pipe (3), resistant to heat and to corrosion by the constituents of given compsns. The unit also comprises a reclosable oxidation reactor (1). This is equipped with a gas outlet pipe (4), discharging into a vented (13) condenser (12). The condenser is connected to a pressure booster (15). The oxidation reactor (1) is surrounded by a temp. controlled, insulated heating jacket (2). Cases (23) holding compsns. for processing are placed in the reactor (1).
