The imaging system combats the problem of a conventional ultrasound scanner that has a single transponder (1), producing a resultant image that has a shadowed area (2) below the target body feature (3). The present imaging system utilizes one or more additional echo head (4) in such a way that the beams cross around the target area. The resultant combined major shadow (5) is smaller in area and the shadows (2) produced by individual heads are less dense.
