A 13C or 14C - labeled fluorescein ester compound or salt thereof resulting from a reaction of a 13C or 14C - labeled acid with fluorescein at both or either of the two hydroxyl groups at 3' and 6' position to form an ester linkage is disclosed. A diagnostic agent thereof is useful for diagnosing pancreatic exocrine function.
