A pair of insulated wires in the wall of the fuel hose (600) forms part of the electrical connection between a first transceiver coil (901) and a control unit located in the housing of the fuel dispenser and the wires are twisted to improve noise cancelling. The coil is provided on the output pipe (902) of the nozzle (900) and the wires, which can be electrical of fiber optic, are preferably wound to reduce tension and bending. A second transceiver coil is placed in contact with the vehicle fuel inlet and information, such as vehicle identification number, milage and octane rating, is transmitted to the control unit from the vehicle information unit. A second pair of wires are placed in a protective pipe (906) and protected by a cover (908). Independent claims are included for a hose adapter, for a hose arrangement and for a fuel dispenser.
