The object of the invention is a process for preparing porous ceramic materials compounds mullite and alumina mullita- shaped monocrystalline short fibers obtained by chemically from an aqueous suspension of kaolin and aluminum hydroxide. The latter is obtained by precipitation in a basic medium using ammonia or an amine, hexamethylenediamine (HMDA), and a solution of aluminum salt premixed with the suspension of kaolinite. The aluminum salt is obtained from chips, dust and metal turnings as aluminum alloy, from recycled waste of manufacture and use, by acid dissolution. Precursors obtained are subjected to heat treatment at 1500-1600 ° C to obtain mullite by chemical reaction, being advantageous to use ground kaolinite and amine producing porous ceramic bodies (50%).
